Our projects
Through our various involvements, we have brought to life dozens of successful spaces in North America, bringing life and great value to their environments.
River Hall, Calgary
-
The City of Calgary wanted to create a neighborhood destination on the west side of Downtown.
-
Belleville created the concept of a welcoming and easily accessible commercial riverfront, facing an outdoor porch on the site of a parking lot.
-
To build and activate the first phase for the River Hall, Belleville brought in Aire Commune as the operation partners.
-
The entire project was delivered in 6 months and is conceived as a short-term proof of concept for larger developments for Calgary’s West side.
The Rendez-Vous, Montreal
-
The Rendez-Vous has become THE place to meet at the heart of Montreal’s NDG neighborhood.
-
The project revitalized the Notre Dame de Grace Pavilion and transformed it into a park cafe with a large outdoor terrace and a 4 nights a week program on stage.
-
The place is managed by Rendez Vous NDG, an NGO created by Jerome Glad with local residents.
-
Le Rendez Vous answers many of the challenges of the neighbourhood: lack of meeting places, third places, and spaces for artistic expression or for artists to perform.
-
Le Rendez Vous is a demonstration of the power of park eateries to transform public space. They are common in Europe but remain a rarity in Canada. The success of this type of project can inspire the revitalization of numerous parc buildings in Montreal and Quebec.
Olympic Plaza, Calgary
-

-

-

Bryant Park, New York
-
Bryant Park is where placemaking was born and the space that best illustrates what it can accomplish.
-
Bryant Park’s programming and governance are the key to its transformation from failed space to an iconic place.
-
Once a crime hotspot and a planning failure, today Bryant Park is a beloved destination for New Yorkers. It welcomes 8 million visitors a year, offers more than 1,000 yearly free programs for the public, and is financially self-sufficient (without public funds).
-
The principles that have enabled this extraordinary evolution are universally applicable and are at the heart of Belleville’s approach.
-
The management agreement between the City and the Conservancy is a model for other places to emulate.
Village au Pied-du-Courant, Montreal
-
Jerome Glad was the initiator and artistic director for the project in 2014.
-
One of the pioneering projects of tactical urban planning and placemaking in Quebec.
-
A large urban beach with a dense cultural program, which creates an oasis of life every summer in an area otherwise dominated by asphalt and automobiles.
-
The project was also innovative from a regulatory point of view, being the first in Quebec. to use meeting permits to create a friendly and intergenerational seasonal terrace.
-
In the pre-pandemic years, the Village's financial model included 85% earned income, the rest coming from various subsidies.
The High Line, New York
-
The High Line is the most exceptional example of the reconversion of legacy industrial infrastructure into a leading attraction.
The first high-quality linear public park which welcomes eight million visitors per year. -
The work of Jerome Barth at the High Line led to the refinement of its financing and operations system.
-
The influence of the High Line has been an engine of recovery for the entire West Side of Manhattan and demonstrated throughout the world the power of public spaces to transform the city.
-
The High Line, although owned by the City of New York, is managed by a private, non-profit, financially self-sustaining not-for-profit.
Gamelin Gardens, Montreal
-
A major project in downtown Montreal which succeeded in creating an instant destination on a site formerly avoided by the general public.
-
Jerome Glad developed within La Pépinière | Collective Spaces the original concept of the project (vision, functional program) as well as the concept of layout of the place (including its emblematic illuminated sign).
-
The management of the site is carried out by the Quartier des Spectacles Partnership which has been perpetuating the original vision for the project since 2015.
Village des Écluses, Greater Montreal
-
The Village des Écluses is the revitalization of the 10-hectare Théâtre des Cascades former site and its adjoining campsite.
-
Jerome Glad is the instigator of the project and developed the vision for the site.
-
Village des Ecluses has become the #1 attraction in Pointe des Cascades.
-
It is also a tourist, cultural, and outdoor destination for the metropolis, with a multitude of attractions present or in development: a large beer garden, a small beach, various nautical attractions, a nature light trail, numerous free cultural events, a theater/cabaret, and the development of onsite hospitality.
-
A perfect example of a very public and now very well-trafficked multi-use site in a low-density environment.
